"As I hide behind these books I read, while scribbling my poetry,
like art could save a wretch like me, with some ideal ideology that no one can hope to achieve.
And I am never real; it is just a sketch of me.
And everything I made is trite and cheap and a waste of paint, of tape, of time." - Bright Eyes

All I ever wanted was to see my life in pages.
Yet I am frightened.
I feel the soft red velvet of a concealing stage curtain.
I scream the words I long for you to hear, yet I remain hidden.
The spotlight searches for the voice.
My voice.
Do I want to be seen?
Is there even an audience?
I want to be remembered.
I want my name, my words, my thoughts, my dreams, my hopes, my wishes, my fears,
On paper.
In books.
On shelves.
In memories.
I want to be heard.
To be seen.
I see the audience waiting.
Should I step into the spotlight?
Shall I pour everything I am into my writing for you to judge?
Will you like me?
Will you hear me?
Would you listen?
The spotlight searches the darkness,
the audience awaits.
I am stepping out from this soft red velvet curtain and into the spotlight.
This fear is overpowering.
The audience is smiling.
'Go on' they urge, 'We'll give you a chance. We'll listen. Give us everything and we'll remember you. Prepare to see your life in pages.'

The author's comments:
I honestly didn't take hours on this poem like I so often do with everything I write... I really just typed word after word, never stopping, slowing down, or going back to fix anything besides the title. Maybe that's why it's my favorite.

Very nice poem, your message is very interesting and thought provoking. The only thing you might want to work on is that some lines have so many words. Sometimes, less is more :) Can you please look at some of my work, rate, and tell me what you think? (Especially "Time")
