My Life in Pages
All I ever wanted was to see my life in pages.
Yet I am frightened.
I feel the soft red velvet of a concealing stage curtain.
I scream the words I long for you to hear, yet I remain hidden.
The spotlight searches for the voice.
My voice.
Do I want to be seen?
Is there even an audience?
I want to be remembered.
I want my name, my words, my thoughts, my dreams, my hopes, my wishes, my fears,
On paper.
In books.
On shelves.
In memories.
I want to be heard.
To be seen.
I see the audience waiting.
Should I step into the spotlight?
Shall I pour everything I am into my writing for you to judge?
Will you like me?
Will you hear me?
Would you listen?
The spotlight searches the darkness,
the audience awaits.
I am stepping out from this soft red velvet curtain and into the spotlight.
This fear is overpowering.
The audience is smiling.
'Go on' they urge, 'We'll give you a chance. We'll listen. Give us everything and we'll remember you. Prepare to see your life in pages.'
