Infamous Triumph
It’s a fairytale to her,
She doesn’t understand her flaws yet.
She tells him to give her some time;
See, her smile doesn’t mean innocence,
It means she got away with it.
She got away with the bottle still hiding under her bed
And the bag still sleeping in her book bag
But does Mama know?
No; "She’s just going through a phase."
Nothing more to say.
Daddy found the bottle
But the questions were hidden thanks to mom.
Does the girl get scared?
No; "She’s just going through a phase."
Nothing more to say.
Daddy found the bag.
Does he say anything?
No; Mama shuts him up before the home can be filled with dread.
See, the girl won’t learn. Can't learn.
There’s no lesson to be learned if the truth is hidden behind a mother's torn heart.
The bottle still sits, filled up every Friday;
Does daddy ask?
No. Mama would throw a fit.
The bottle doesn’t have poison,
The bag doesn’t have trees.
Does daddy protest?
No. Mama would say
Flaws.
Phase.
Does she know?
No.
Because she hides everything from her eyes.
She's gotten good at matching her dad's game, while tricking her mother into attempting to stay sane.
She tells her that drugs aren’t in her life.
See, the phase will never go away
She’s stuck as this in the now;
The flaws will never leave her.
Her flaws,
My flaws;
Drugs and Alcohol
