Taps plays
And I am just
Privately waiting for its end
So I can stop
Pleading for these tears to
Leave my eyes and
Even so, they fall faster.
And I listen and am
Sure that the melody
Echoes still through that
Snow where it started
That day in the
Open field where I just
Prayed to forget the folded flag.
