Monster I Could Hide
You linger in the room for too long
Distraction on my face
Your legs take up too much room like the awkward elephant
Brittle hair
Rough skin
You stick out in such a smooth exterior
You have
Stained the floor
Scratched the walls
No name left
Your eyes pierce when anticipated soft
Impatient
Yellow eyes
Green skin
A child prays you are not under the bed at night
Not in the original closet setting
But in a busy room
I’m the only one who notices the monster
As if to prove no one but I can fear this monster
It kisses my mother’s face
Leaving her with no
Eyes
Lips
Nose
Or Smile
She tried so hard to look for it
Around my room
Telling me
It
Is
In
Your
Head
