When Humanity Goes
To those who look at the cities gray stare
burned into the ground and think -
We have conquered nature.
You have lived too much during the day.
For anyone who steps out of our save, little, warm shells
of modern construction,
-Into a winter's cool night,
-Into summer's caressing,
star-filled blackness,
-And sees how we cannot see past the green, green inked in grass of this shadow land.
-And hears the wind
wrapping through the trees,
wrapping around you.
Knows.
Humanity
has run away.
Too small in the comparison,
Too easily snuffed
out.
