For Jerusalem
"Sing like nobody is watching."
I cry out to my Jerusalem
Free. The sound of my own voice on the buildings
Falling then sinking into the ground with no sound. Airwaves, beating lines, troves of the heart wind in Jerusalem. I only want to feel. To launch my aerial attack, to make no sense for myself. To send my words into the city and to never get them back. So I belt your name into every nook and crevice. I watch you explode, like a bag of ice under pressure, I watch your rebirth again and again. I want you for my own, so I send molecules of aching breath into the summer air of my old city, where I may belong now. "Take me as I am," I cry, "No one else understands me." As my voice cascades down the railing, I hope I am altering this country for the better.
