I Thank You
Skin stained from the tears
 My eyes swollen with sorrow
 Alone and abandoned
Left by the one who was supposed to stay
 Yet I thank you

 Screams echo throughout
 Walls shake and doors slam
 My heart races and screams
Swallowed by the anger that surrounds
 Yet I thank you

 The clouds cover the sky
 Rain pounds down on me
 Relentless and endlessly gray
My skin frozen at the touch
 Yet I thank you

 Seemingly broken by my touch
The world falls at my feet
 My hands lifted up high
That’s all I can think to do
 No mess is too big
 There’s always a rainbow after a storm
You carried me through it all
And for this Lord I thank you
