Your appetite has gone awry
Your parents-they can't help but worry

You cry yourself to sleep every night
And try, so hard, to overcome the fright
The fright of what the future holds
The pain doesn't seem to get old

And when you realize it was all for nothing
The agony is just heart-wrenching
But once you're over all the tears
Reason seems to calm your fears

And you realize that you've learned and grown
And the final results will be shown
In how you feel;
That you can feel at all

The future is a beacon of light
And you've all but forgotten that dreadful night
The night when your whole world up and shattered
The night when you watched your own heart scatter

And though your heart will never be
As good as it was that night
You've finally accepted destiny;
You'll stop trying to fight
And that itself is a lesson learned
And to learn it right, you had to be burned.
