Is it tinted.. or tainted?
Crystalline azure waters always look aspirational, grand. Only the truly lucky or wealthy experience this phenomenon, this aristocratic perk. The world screen shows beauty queens with perfect tans riding in limos with similar skinned males riding in limos. They splash about, somehow never getting their hair wet. There are no bees or mud shown in these depictions.
It almost seems too good, too great, and too perfect, really. It gets hard to distinguish between clear blue and one that’s plastic when everything gets covered in a shiny polymer coating eventually.
So let us bring back algae in our pools. Be proud of every dead leaf and bug that does float. Rejoice in those crickets and ducks, as well as the poop they leave behind for us. This will help us remember that perfectly warm, turquoise water is not just tinted. It’s tainted.
