I'm in an alien world with

alien people.

making alien sounds with their

alien faces; their bodies foreign

their life distant

they come in pods



And I am scared

I jut out my chin and proclaim:

"different!"

and yet I lose myself amongst their

alien chaos, alien flow of this

alien crowd

and blur the edges I hate

Slowly

as a girl comes to realize the fragile

deja vu of

what could have been...

to submit that it could happen.

And then the

alien noises suddenly

die down to just the twittering of birds

and I know that


I am




not above


them.
