For Forever And A Day
You tell me that it’s over
This stage of life is done
Its beauty is gone forever
Though I thought it’d just begun
There’s no way to go back
To hold on to the past
You say to let it go
You knew it couldn’t last
But when I have turned away
Lost in the shifting crowds
When all is fading and falling
I’ll look for your face in the clouds
I thought that I had found it
A vision of my own
A place where I belonged
But now I see you’ve grown
You’ve grown beyond my reach
I cannot help you now
You said not to let it hurt me
But I do not yet know how
So when I am scared and lonely
When my head with pain is bowed
When all is fading and falling
I’ll look for your face in the clouds
I’ll drown myself in music
In a thousand books lose my thoughts
But I’m afraid to go to sleep
For with tears my dreams are bought
With tears I dream of the past
Of all that I once had
Of all the fancies I believed in
Before the world became sad
And when it’s night and I’m frightened
Wrapped in my dreams’ cold shrouds
When all is fading and falling
I’ll look for your face in the clouds
But now all is black and cold
The dark before the dawn
And I hear your voice come echoing
To the place where I’ve withdrawn
And when I hear you say again
It’s time now to let go
It’s time to move apart
And on our own to grow
When I hear your words so cold
Speak in my head aloud
When my world is breaking and falling
I’ll still look for your face in the clouds
I’ll look for your face in the clouds
I’ll still look for your face in the clouds
I know up there I might still see you smile
I’ll look for your face in the clouds
