The Ring of a Bullet
pain it explodes through her body,
crimson red splatter the wall behind her.
The shot rings loud and clear through the air,
the bullet lodged in her chest.
Looking at the wound she screams,
terror on her pale face.
The man looks smug,
smirking past the barrel.
Smoke drifts away from him,
and she crumples to the ground.
Her ashen face tear stained.
He walks away whistling,
as if he'd just won a battle.
Her breathing goes shallow,
and her heart stops.
Too soon she lays dead,
her body decaying into nothing.
