The Crashing Rain
Even when the sun is out, we all have fun
But then a heavy rain comes ruining it all
Stuck in the house, so quiet we can’t hear a mouse.
The sudden “thumping” and “thudding” of droplets on the roof
Make it hard to hear a thing.
I cling to something wishing for the rain to end.
I grow restless of hearing the beat less tune of the rain
Of the constant thumping and thudding of the water
Then suddenly the rain touches the roof gingerly.
That drizzle doesn’t last, because soon all is drenched
The lightning striking the power swift, causing a shift to darkness.
The thunder giving a thrill to those young at heart
A violent crashing of a car from a far.
At the height of all this fright
The thumping and thudding stops
The lightning begins to calm and the thunder softens
And from a distance, at the parting gray clouds
Is the sun shining and shimmering on us all
