One Step
Just take a step, one step towards me
Hold me in your arms, it’s all I need
For they can no longer intercede
Behind the stone bridge, we are free.
Find me, find me in the shadows
Looking around all the corners,
Observing the passing mourners,
Gazing at graves, the markers so shallow.
Don’t forget me when I’m gone. Dead,
Cold like the winters biting nights. Instead
Place a pebble on my headstone, everlasting.
For if you leave me first, I will take
The one to step towards my daybreak
And lay by your side in our eternal grave.
