An Earthly Elegy

Is it fate
that I must await
for everything to disappear
people walk all over me
their walking makes me sore
all the way to the core
I am no longer in their interest
at night they gaze up
at a sleek silvery-white crescent
with wonder in their eyes
will they ever look at me that way?
they take advantage of me
mining me to get what they want
taking more than what they need
only out of greed
they are slowly knocking down my forests
which took me centuries to complete
and let me confide
they were my greatest pride
if only I were the moon
the finishing touch to the firmament.

I think it is perfect! and a little advice that my sister-in-law gave me. Don't ever change your work because of what someone else says. If you do, than it isn't YOUR'S anymore. do you know what I mean? :) ~God Bless

The metaphors are great, contents great, rhyming a little forced maybe at times, but overall it's a solid 4/5. Check out my work sometime if you get a chance?

It's interesting when you find somebody else that has you penned before you even knew that was what you were feeling.

I feel this way sometimes, friend. I wish I had something more profound to say but the knowledge that somebody else feels the same way as you do may be comfort enough.
