Minimum Wage
If I was richer…
would I still value drive-thrus and takeout?
Would I have eviction notices and utility disconnections to write emotional poems about?
Would I care so much about President Obama’s plans for our economy?
Would anything other than my next trip to the mall even matter to me?
Would I know what it feels like and value the struggle?
Would I become a touch-me-not and get selfish with my hugs…or…
Would I still wake up for church on Sundays?
Or would I consider myself “lucky” and neglect to give God thanks?
Would I blow my money senselessly and not value anything given to me?
Would I jam-pack my closet full of name brand and designer labels made by someone so poor they sweat so I could shop from third-world factories?
Would I acknowledge what giving back was worth versus gaining more?
Would I let modern media and popular fads turn me into their wh***?
But asking these questions is like asking, “what if Jesus never died?”
Because I already know the answers to both…
I WOULDN’T SURVIVE.
