the F. S.
You’re afraid,
Afraid of everything that’s going to happen.
You don’t know anyone,
But you are expected to trust them.
You have nothing,
Just the clothes you are wearing-
And an old backpack.
You’re cold,
Lonely,
And afraid.
You don’t know why but you begin to cry.
People just look at you,
They don’t know,
And you won’t tell.
Why should you?
All that matters is that you’ve gotten away,
Gotten away form the pain,
And misery you were in.
You get moved overnight-
To a strangers house.
You’re scared,
Because you don’t know them,
Or what they’ll do to you.
You try to relax, but you can’t,
Something still isn’t right.
You go to a new school,
Have new classes,
New teachers,
And have to make new friends.
You can’t stop thinking;
“I should’ve kept my mouth shut! At least I knew people, and I was comfortable with my dad.”
You miss your old life because you’ll never be the same.
You never wanted to be in the foster system.
