As the Leaves Change
As seasons go, leaves change
Life goes on, to the beat of rain
From winter to spring, life goes on
Starting a seed planted firm
Then sprout as the sun warms
Mother nature stands watch like a soldier, she will stand
Watching, watching as the tree grows
Sprout grows slow ever so slow
She stares, wishing it wouldn’t go
Faster it grows, it’s trunk thick, and it’s leaves bold
Poor nature, how she feels so old watching that tree grow
Ten feet tall now soon on it’s own
Not needing she who raised it, from seed to tree
Soon forgotten, to the tree
But wait, should she let it be
The winter is harsh for the tree
Should she let her be
She grows more each hour can her mother takes it any longer
The tree has grown wise, and tries to show, she can make it on her own
Soon, soon she says I will allow you, dear mother to rest your head
To sleep like never before, though I will always need you
Rest forever more; confidence in me is what I see
As seasons go, leaves change
Life goes on to the beat of rain
From winter to spring, life goes on
