My sister dug her plump
Fists into the earth. She
Groped the dirt with a
blissful squint.

Out of the millions of flowers
that bloomed in his garden, two
remain-- a spiky orange dahlia,
One smug white rose
And a brown carrot.

We played a game of darts
He pricked himself.
It seemed odd that the blood could
Still be so red and bright under
That saggy white wrist

these are my memories of my great grandfather who died when I was six. He had an amazing garden. He passed while watering his flowers.
