A face
Half-erased
By the black, chaotic sobs she cries
Dark smudges on light,
White paper
Destroy a work of art
Her eyes,
Once glittering, shining stars
Now stare out,
The lashes smudged
Where they were dark and defined
Pupils - once deep, intelligent
Now empty, mask-like;
A face,
Half-erased
With tears, grief and fright
Unrecognizable
Reflects what she is inside
Unrecognizable
Like her soul, her mind,
Her no-longer-there heart.
