Porcelain Doll
The surface is smooth
Not a scratch or dent
In the clean white porcelain
Appearing flawless
To all the adoring children
But one day it will chip
The pressure will be too much
For the weak porcelain to bear
On thin weathered shoulders
Soon the small chip will grow
Into a gaping hole
Swallowing up all its beauty
What will she do then?
With no one left to love
When all the glamour
Is washed away
And her beauty can no longer
Hide the secrets
That lie beneath
Her clean porcelain face
Where will she go?
With no pride to guide her
When youth no longer lingers
And the makeup she wears
Is now a disguise
Still, the neglect will show
Like the dirt caked in her skin
Her once rosy red lips
Will no longer remember
How to smile
And no glory will shimmer
Through her dark eyes
The once smooth surface
Rough and jagged
No one will be there
When she breaks
