I turn around and there still you stand,
Please just leave, just leave me be!
Your black cold eyes, your twisted mouth,
Shades of darkness, cruel world I see,

Your honeyed tongue, a viper’s nest,
Nourishes the comforting dream of dreams,
Luring me still closer to my death,
With a calculating mind and eyes that gleam,

Built of iron and strength of steel,
Entrancing beauty in lethal repose,
Reach out a cold cruel hand for me,
With false promises of love and hope,

The purple stain that was left behind,
A cruel reminder of the trials of love,
Strike your fist at me again,
The blood still dripping from your gloves,

I turn my face away in fear,
Hiding from the expressionless mask,
Please just leave, I do not want to hear!
But the apologies come, crimes fade to the past,

I hear the soothing familiar melody,
My handsome prince comes home at last,
Hush, quiet whispers in my mind,
Hush, silence please, the die is cast,

Sweetness found in my melancholy,
In the mirror a skull stares back at me,
The glass reflects skin’s beautiful hues,
Battle wounds of love, a stranger’s bruise,

Forgive, forgive me, for asking you to leave,
Your beautiful words resurrect my love,
Please, oh please, just stay with me!
You are the only one I have been dreaming of.

I am not, nor have I ever been, in an abusive relationship. My inspiration for this poem came from the books I have read and music.

This is really great! It's a very interesting poem and I loved the words you chose. It is very thought provoking as well, and for the most part the flow of the poem was great. The rhymes didn't seem very forced, so great job! Rhyming poems have always been hard to write for me. My favorite stanza was this: The purple stain that was left behind, A cruel reminder of the trials of love, Strike your fist at me again, The blood still dripping from your gloves Great imagery:)

I so know that feeling! This was really well done! Good job!
