“A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself.” Abraham Maslow.

Why must you go,
Into danger,
To fight a war,
When i am fighting a war of my own?
I can’t stand the thought of you in danger,
Thousands of miles from me,
Where I am helpless.
Why must you leave me,
And go to the war?
I don’t want you to,
But I can’t tell you that,
For this is your dream,
And my nightmare.
I hate the thought of you dying,
Thousands of miles away from me.
Those thoughts shatter my heart,
My world.
You might not come back,
To me.
But this is your dream,
And my nightmare.
Please,
I beg you,
Come home safely.
Please come back to me,
For the thought of you not,
Destroys me.
This may be your dream,
But it is my nightmare,
That haunts me even when I am awake,
And I can’t stand the thought of you not coming home,
For it shatters my heart,
And destroys me.

This is for my best friend, who wants to be a marine. His dream scares me because I'm afraid that he will get hurt, but I can't tell him this.
