If only I could find
Batman's car
Superman's cape
Spiderman's suit

Maybe I should look for
Luke Skywalker's light saber
Frodo's ring
Harry Potter's wand

If only I had the power of
Katniss Everdeen's arrows
Jack Sparrow's ship
Percy Jackson's sword

I'll begin a search for
Indiana Jones's satchel
Tinker Bell's fairy dust
Aslan's roar

If I stumbled upon these things
Could I inherit their power
Is courage something
Easily passed down

Is strength something
Only I can find for myself
Can someone find it for me
Or must I begin a quest

Once again I look at great heroes
Heroes from books
Heroes from movies
Heroes from reality even

Where should I look
To find self confidence
Self security
I'm lost with no direction

Finally I realize
No, they come from within

The author's comments:
I've always admired heroes in stories. I always wanted to be heroic, so I tried to acquire their same tools, their same equipment. But then I realized it comes from my own heart. It can't be given to be.
