The Wife
Today I got the call,
My husband has fought his last fight.
He will no longer see another sight.
He won't see his first son being born.
He won't see his baby girl turn two.
I don't know how I'll get through.
My eyes are red from the tears,
Next week would have been seven years.
I guess I'll have to learn to cope.
The only thing left to do is hope.
Hope I can make it on my own,
Hope I have strength to move on,
I guess it's true,
Freedom doesn't come free.
