The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance; it is the illusion of knowledge.

Jump into the cool water,
Slippery against my skin.
The small fish swim quickly away
Angered that I disturbed the glass surface.
Take a deep breath
Then open my eyes,
To see a new world populated with quiet wonders.
A sparkling collage of whites, blues, greens.
A small disturbance creates smooth ripples
That soar away from the hated object
That infiltrated the territory.
Beautiful homes for beautiful creatures.
Step away from a different world,
And into a new, icy wonder.
Whether its a playful fish swimming about,
Clams tucked deep into their rocky home,
Or a shy turtle opening its eyes to a new day,
Sunning itself on a floating log.
Loons ducking down to capture an early meal,
Small crabs skittering around on the sandy surface.
A beauty, so simple but loud in its wonder
Fades from my eyes when I stem out of the mirror,
Into the harsh world above.
My hiding home leaves not only my eyes,
But the eyes of what it to come.
Don’t forget the better world
That hides below the sea.
We can still save it,
Save a part of me.

I have always loved the ocean. I thought I'd write a piece that shows that love
