“Writing is a form of personal freedom. It frees us from the mass identity we see in the making all around us. In the end, writers will write not to be outlaw heroes of some underculture but mainly to save themselves, to survive as individuals.”

The blank screen staring at you
Cuts you deep in ways you've never known
The rejection of a call you never got
Sends pain throughout your body.

As you fall into despair,
You try to hang on to any thread of hope
Desperately clinging
Growing weaker every second

You start blaming yourself
Thinking it's your fault he doesn't want you
That you aren't good enough
That you don't deserve someone like him

Salty tears run down your face
You fail to hold back the flood
Everywhere you look,
You see his face.

You can't escape the pain
You sit enveloped in it
Letting it win
Because nothing can drive it away.

The pain is darkness
A faceless demon
Soaking up your happiness
Leaving nothing but a trail of tears.

Friends try to tear you from it's grasp
But you have already been pulled too far in.
You are too far gone
Nothing anyone does can bring you back.

This is a piece I wrote about what it feels like to be in pain, especially over a guy.
