As I watch Her Run
She darts in and out
 making a wild, and jagged
 path through the woods
 she follows me;
 coming onto my wide, and dusty trail
 just to make sure I didn’t leave her
 Like those other people did,

 But I never would;
 she knows that
 I hope.

 Her jet-black fur pierces the sun light noon.
 As she waits to catch her breath for a moment,
 I do too.

 her little pink tung hangs
 out the side of her mouth.
 and as she pants
 she looks up at me,
 forcing me to look at her big,
 hazel eyes.

 She hangs at my feet,
 closer, than even my shadow can,
 she’s done this ever sense the day
 I plucked her up from that tractor-trailer,
 and brought her home

 Now she runs again, this time home
 she knows the way from here,
 I’ll meet her on the door step,
 but for now I watch her

 Run.
