Lullaby
The cadence
 hypnotizes me as the
 sand sifts, surrounding
 my toes.

 Feet cold, face hot, and
 still I stare at the sun shining,
 hardly higher than the horizon.
 That blued blur of water and
 sweeping sky calms me.
 Quiets me.

 This thundering, crashing lullaby
 is meant for dreamers and children,
 So I listen to it more than most;
 I am a dreamer and a child.
