Somewhere
Two metal dragonflies
Wade the air lazy over dunes shaped like sleeping women
Where children hide trapped and barely men wander aimless
All is well here, say the pilots riding the dragonflies
Their untrained arms giving nothing to their untrained eyes
And glide smiling over never meant to be graves
Off to tell that all is well
Somewhere
A man is screaming
Not fury but fear beyond anything he has ever felt
And the man next to him is silent, holding back
Not fury but fear beyond anything he has ever felt
Each desperately holding on to the other
To keep from losing their souls to the sand
To the storms and monsters hiding in it
Maybe, one says, today the dragonflies will see us
And let us cling to their wings
So we may tell them that all is not well
All is not well at all
