Who Says I Cannot Love You?
Who says I cannot love you?
Your mother will hate it
Well, I hate her.
They think it’s ungodly
We shall worship another god
One that loves you and your fiery beauty
As much as I do.
They whisper and fidget
Forget that, my love, my life.
You are the tempest
A maelstrom of love, lust, and longing,
Which craves the simplicity of my midsummer shower.
Turn your back to the world
They have nothing to offer you.
Here in my arms there is love
You may reside there forever
Or you may face the world.
Either way, I will love you
Because they say I cannot.
