Nation: A Poem for Stephen Colbert
Nation, come to arms.
His arms, that is.
Do I mean God? Well, I suppose
he is a god to some.
Nation, I speak of another man.
I speak of Stephen T Colbert.
Nay to “col-bert”!
That T is silent!
Nation, Stephen T Colbert is a man.
A great and funny man.
He tells the news the way it is.
The way he deems it fit.
Nation, this man, his words carry weight.
They can sink a candidate.
Do not rhyme that;
It was not meant to be.
Nation, not all are a part
Of this great Colbertnation.
They think him too conservative,
abrasive, or just not funny.
Do they not understand?
Nation, Colbert has a sweet side,
And a sweet tooth. His patriotism
Has been drizzled in chocolate to
fulfill every Americone’s Dream.
Nation, along with his power,
Comes money. That money
Comes from us. Anonymously.
Towards our better tomorrow…tomorrow.
Nation, I don’t have sing to you
of his praises. You can sing them
for yourself now. Because Stephen T Colbert
is far too modest to sing them himself.
