Chopped apart my being
Drank marrow from my bones
Ripped cleanly out my throbbing heart
Replaced it with a stone
Plucked me clean of warming hopes
Left aching body cold
Showed me how embraces felt
Then tore me from their hold
Strummed my nerves till they were raw
Laughed loudly at my hurt
Stripped me down to deepest core
Then threw me in the dirt
Step-by-step the planning went
How best to bring me pain
Built me up with promises
To tear me down again
Wrapping me in wire barbed
Poison on each binding strand
You carried me to highest heights
Then threw me down and watched me land.
