Adjective
Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
-
Albert Einstein

Call me crazy, but here is what I see:
Life – A crying baby is born
Growth – in age, size, and numbers
Needs – food, air, and water
Accomplishments – …if they’re lucky
Then Death is brought
So why? Why would it be different every time?

Where are we going?
Life is lived, again and again
Those five steps is not any news
Life goes on, whether you’re dead or not
So why – do we keep it going on?

Call me crazy, but here is what I see:
War – speeding up death, to gain some land
Love – Two people falling into its grasp
Freedom – first blacks, then girls, then gays
Pain – in the heart, the soul, the skin
I’ve seen this all before – what’s the difference?
From now, or the 18th century

War, won’t stop now, but it’s the same,
The same as before, just new technology
Freedom, we’ve granted the blacks, and the women
Gays are hoping and wanting, but then…
What next? Who next? Who is left to grant it?

Call me crazy, but here is what I see:
Me – telling each and every one of you:
The world, it’s insane!
Life, love, war, pain, death
It’s the same. It goes on and on and on
Never stopping, but circling around
I’ve told you these things in poems-
Again and again, again and again

Call me crazy, but here is what I see:
I…Even I, am insane
