My heart flutters
as I pace behind the scenes
the curtains conceal me
the real me in fear

My breath slows down
and I regain control
the curtains open revealing me
the new me

My heart still beats fast
but I am still in control
the lights turn on and lighted me
whoever I am

My heart stops to beat
it is now the one in control
the audience takes it in
this brand new person

My eyes begin to glow
for I am doing what I love
the audience clap with joy
at this character who I am

My stomach begins to tingle
I know I have done a good job
the lights begin to dim
This new person begins to fade

My bones feel alive
I am almost there now
the curtains close
and I am the real me once again
