fifty-nine, sixty
we are the unbearable cold, cracked lips, broken ribs
knuckles raw and faces stern
how did we ever get to this?
forgotten memories, our reasons for being.
torn polaroids in brown boxes hiding under our beds,
too afraid to let go, too tired to keep going.
stuck in the past, did i mention those photographs?
clocks ticking on, tick-tick, tick-tick.
trapped in an hourglass, swept away by the sand.
57, 58, 59, 60-
the seconds start all over, time is getting away,
eyes bloodshot, hands clenched,
we reach for the clock, turn back the time,
but it won't ever stop.
