Favorite Quote:
“I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.”
-Jack London

My deceitful mouth is not clean
But soiled with verbal filth
It froths with spiteful words
Which I do not regard with pride
Yet these irreverent words are words that need to be spoken
They’re shrouded with vengeance
Masked with envy
Mottled with chagrin
Yet are spoken with an altruistic sanguinity that they’ll make a benevolent difference

However, these forbidden words which I have illicitly spoken
Now lay before me
And I do not know what to make of them
The words are naïve
They divulge a feeble ignorance within me
But I speak these words with good intentions
Content with my oblivion

The words fester in a scorching blaze upon my tongue
Which singe the tender flesh of my lips
And with every meticulous syllable
I ask myself as to why my voice sought to articulate such vulgarity

I have yet for someone to hear my revolting utterances
My astringent notions
And my fervent obsessions
Not even I have perceived the sound

When that day comes, I hope I have the sense to refrain from purging my painstaking thoughts
And prevent them from penetrating and demoralizing someone’s virgin ears
And I just hope
That when those clandestine remarks dangle from my mouth
And beg to glissade from my culpable lips and thrash with insolence in the minds and ears of innocent souls
I’ll defy my temptations and bite my tongue.
