The Funeral
People in black
Stand over a box
Some are crying
Some are soothing.
A pastor prays
And people weep
A girl stands by the box
This hurts her worse.
The box goes down
In a whole in the ground
It’s buried in dirt
Covered with flowers.
Marked with stone
It shall always be remembered
And that girl will always cry
‘Cause her friend was the one to die.
People walk off
And this writer will say
Even for her
This was a very sad day.
