To Jimmy, a dog like no other
For the first time in my life
I cannot find a word,
I cannot choose a language
To express my grief
You my darling,
Have a better language
Than the one in use:
The language of love
How can my simple words stand
Before your marble green eyes
Full of love and pain
Boring into my soul?
Oh! Why did not I know
When you lay on my lap
That it was your way
Of saying final goodbye?
Do you know,
How much I yearn
For your doggy smell,
The feel of your fur,
The clutter of your feet and
The mischief you are always up to?
How I want to hug you
And never let go?
How I still want to believe
That you are not yet gone?
How my heart is also
Buried deep in your grave?
You taught me how to love
You taught me how to live
More than everything,
You showed what family means
and what matters most in life
My one and only Jimmy,
I want you to know
You are not a pet -But
My best friend for life and beyond………
