The Violinist
I. Little miss unwanted loved freedom
 She’ll sit windowless watching
 the world wait
 Streaking fingers on the
 empty spaces she fills
 but not enough
 Planting, seeding, sowing
 her words to provide hunger
to those who ache to have compassion
yet too heartless to gain any of their own
She who grasps the feather of
birds too light to be carried away

II. Big mister clutched life at its seams
 Yours, she is, encased violin
Notes of bitterness echoing, reverberating, looping
Now you know eternity as it grasps
strings of vibrancy ending with a lasting finality
She, your violin, will you ever let her go?

 III. The hourglass
 Grain pain, wince, grit
 Her teeth on glass, fingernails
 no chalkboard, no chord
 Ice and desert
 She can’t look or see
so she’ll play for you her measures
 Grow higher with unspoken words
 One
 Two
 Three
 Sixteenth
 Eighth
 Quarter
 Third
 Half
 Whole

 IV. tsal ta modeerF
 shards untangled as you watch
 her break free
Falsetto too old for her fate
 Dolce vita, c’est la vie
 She’ll say windowless
Her violin words caress and flourish
 Your mind compassioned will say
 little miss violin

 you are my wings
