Today is the Day
For every glaring eye
And every pointing finger
For every down-grading word
And every stab in the back
My heart does not crack nor break,
But instead,
Defends against each attack,
And grows stronger,
And tougher with each striking blow
Today is the day,
The day I forget each hit taken against me,
And begin my life
Nothing can haunt me,
For I have locked the door,
And I, only I,
Hold the key to what’s behind me
And when I wake up tomorrow,
Wake up to the bright and golden sun,
I shall begin my life all over,
Once again
