The Flood
I’ve felt the flood

It rained down over my shoulder blades

Finding each rivet in my skin

The places that make me who I’ve become

 It fell hard

But the pounding was like a heartbeat

 After running

 Too fast, undesired

 Exhilarating

 It filled the crevices

My mouth and ears and eyes

 Blinding me to the world

 Salty burn mingled with

 The flood
