Mama Said
Listening to sad songs
On a cold, rainy day
Trying to make
The pain go away
The magazines
Have all been read
And my knitting things
Down to the last thread
I don't know
What else to do
I need distractions
To forget about you
Because when I remember
Your face when it ended
It makes me want to cry
Mistakes are never mended
Find the path
You want to take
And follow it
No matter what's at stake
My mama told me
To never give up
And live like the world
Is filled with love
But sometimes I feel
That maybe it's not
And maybe you're not always right,
Mom
And maybe
Just maybe
What happened that day
Well maybe
Just maybe
It'll all be okay
And maybe
Just maybe
When the clock finally stops
I won't die with you
In all of my thoughts
But for now I just sit here
On this sad rainy day
With old magazines
Crying "Baby, please stay."
