Into the Dark
I can feel it within
Gnawing away, eroding me
From the inside out
This poison they blast into
My cells, is not
Much better
They are trying to isolate my
Invader, kill it
Before it kills
Me
Days pass
In a drug-induced stupor, I
Watch as my body turns
Unfamiliar, alien
Stuck in an iron grip
My body fights, but my
Strength is ebbing
Praying won’t help me
Now
Blackness crowds the corners of
My eyes
There is no fight
Left in me
To the very end I refuse to surrender, but it
Eventually
Overpowers me
I drift into oblivion
Slowly fading
Into the dark
