Plastic Love

It was all there,
The first days of our relationship,
Bloomed like a blossom in the warm spring air
One day he was talking to another girl, the rich one
he was talking to her, and ignoring me,

love is hard

I asked him how he knows her and he told me that he doesn’t,
and I knew our love would never last.
We had plastic love
One that comes and goes,
Is based on popularity and money,
But never deep down, in the heart like we were taught to love
It doesn’t matter now; my plastic love has turned real,
When I broke up with him,
And found someone better,
Someone who likes me for me,
But he is still living there,
In his plastic universe,
Away from all civilization, love, and empathy,
He still sees me, but I ignore him
Because his reality,
Is plastic,
And he can get as many girls as he wants,
But one day,
He will realize,
The best things in life aren’t free,
The best things in life are discovered

This poem is about a personal relationship I had, it is a juxtaposition that my teacher made us write. I hope you enjoy!
