Scientific Inquiry
The lives
And days
Drag their worn down feet
Across a yellow page
Tainted with wishes
That never touched the stars
And I wonder
Where
All those counted sheep are going
Because I would like to go there too
Into a place reached just beyond
The bloody wound of real and fake
A bridge crossed every night
At the rawest time of life
When
The animal inside fights forward
And feelings fade away
Dirt is cleaner than the air
Of cities hidden behind smoke
Regulated carefully
Because animals can't ask
Why
Nature wasn't good enough
And humans are too busy
Holding back their long dried tears
Because humans cannot ask
What
Is going on inside themselves
Though pills are said to help
Those calculated chemicals
Making up each beating heart
Doctors dissect wondering minds
And label under microscopes
Saying that they know it all
But words can make you realize
That they never thought to ask
Who
