Why did I get my hopes so high
When my heart's too heavy for me to fly
Why do the fissures run so deep
When it's broken by one I cannot keep
I guess it's like what I've always heard
Love is like a fluttering bird
Some can catch it, and some cannot
It's a matter of how much luck you've got
And as I sit here with my broken net
I wonder if I should give up yet
I just wish one of those birds would stay
Because it hurts so much
To always watch them fly away
And I just lost the best today
Dear Phoenix come back and play!

I wrote this after experiencing a somewhat bittersweet rejection. Knowing her felt like my dark faded soul was stained by a bright radiating hue of violet, but after I was "shot down" it felt as though my heart was even darker than before.
