I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right.
-Marcus Zusak, The Book Thief

Ophelia, it seems to me,
Really was the victim here
But still, when Shakespeare wrote his words
He named his work after Hamlet

Ophelia, who killed herself
And witnessed her world falling apart
But still, when Shakespeare wrote his words,
He named his work after Hamlet

Horatio, it seems to me,
Really was the victim here,
But still, when Shakespeare wrote his words,
He named his work after Hamlet

Horatio, who told the tale,
Of all his dear friends, layed to rest,
But still, when Shakespeare wrote his words,
He named his work after Hamlet

Gertrude, It seems to me,
Really was the victim here,
But still, when Shakespeare wrote his words,
He named his work after Hamlet

Gertrude, who's husband was killed in the night,
And who married the conniving Claudius,
But still, when Shakespeare wrote his words,
He named his work after Hamlet

Even Claudius, it seems to me,
Could be portrayed a victim here,
But still, when Shakespeare wrote his words,
He named his work after Hamlet

Claudius, killed with his very own poison,
and with his very own hand, guided by his nephew,
But still, when Shakespeare wrote his words,
He named his work after Hamlet

Hamlet, it seems to me,
Really wasn't the hero here,
But still, when Shakespeare wrote his words,
He named his work after Hamlet

Hamlet, who killed his girlfriend's father,
And her brother, too, and sent her to a watery grave,
But still, when Shakespeare wrote his words,
He named his work after Hamlet

Does this bother anyone else? I mean, Hamlet gets an awful lot of credit, but really, he did a lot of damage and a lot of whining. I'm just saying.
