Dearest Love,

I am writing again because the last address was not true.

The postman returned and said it was not you.

It broke my heart, but I’m writing again.

Hopefully this will sound better after starting anew.

Love, I have imagined your presence too many times,

And tried to capture you in fancy words and rhymes.

Never have I succeeded until now.

Now I understand it was worth the climb.

Your presence brings insurmountable joy to me.

Even when you’re too far away for me to even see,

I can still feel your warmth.

What you’ve done is funny, wouldn’t you agree?

I wanted you for my own happiness, but somehow

You make me put another’s happiness first now.

I don’t mean to sound like a complaint,

Having you makes it a worthwhile vow.

Anyway, I hope all is well with you today

And everyone you visit allows you to stay

Because you’re a wonderful guest to have

And I intend on extending your invitation everyday.

I’m sure its you this time, I know you’re really here.

I know this isn’t just the wind whispering in my ear

I hear you in his voice and laughter,

And the way he’ll call me “dear”.

So I’m writing for you to stick around

Please, I would do leaps and bounds,

To everyday hear your lovely sounds.

I want nothing more then for you to stay forever.

Sincerely,

A hopeful admirer
