what i want my words to do to you
i want them to show you
just what you do to me.
but language is failing this wordsmith for the first time
and it’s all because of you.
once, words were enough
to describe my happiness, my fear,
my day-to-day.
but my words are not enough for you.
you are a beautiful spirit,
one of those almost indescribable people
that just make me want to be a better person myself.
one of those people that make my heart full.
when i think of the person i want to be,
she looks a lot like you.
she smiles like you, cries like you, loves like you.
i am always asking myself, what would she do?
and i answer,
she would pour beauty into my soul.
she would break my heart with her loveliness.
she would warm my world with her spirit.
you fill me up with late night giggles
and late night tears.
you taught me silence
and you taught me slowly.
you drive away all my fears.
you make me bold.
and because of you,
i am learning who i want to be.
i want my words to show you
just what you do for me.
but my words can never be enough
for the you that teaches me so much.
